February 2015 Walks

Saturday  February  7               Linear Great Missenden to Amersham  via Little Missenden (pub or picnic lunch). Our annual viewing of the snowdrops. 9-10 miles, briskish pace, some hills.

Depart Marylebone 9.42, Harrow on the Hill 9.54, arrive Great Missenden 10.23.

Sunday February 8                    Circular from Burnham. Eight mile easy walk following field paths to Stoke Poges and the edge of Burnham Beeches. Depart Paddington 10.43, arrive Burnham (Bucks) 11.19.

Thursday February 12              Northwick Park to Hendon Central. Six and a half mile linear walk along Capital Ring via Fryent Park and Welsh Harp Reservoir. Good views and drop out points. Lunch at garden centre. Mostly tarmac paths. Meet at Northwick Park (Met line) at 10.45.

Saturday February 14              Linear Stanmore to Carpenders Park or Bushey. A five or seven mile linear winter walk in the woods and fields of north west London, finishing either at Carpender underground station or Bushey bus stop. Gentle hills, easy pace.  Lunch at garden centre café. Meet Stanmore (Jubilee line) station at 10.45.

Wednesday February 18           Geffrye Museum Stroll.  A five mile linear stroll from Liverpool

Street station to the Geffrye Museum (lunch or picnic). Also visiting the Honourable Artillery

Company and Bunhill Cemetery.  Meet outside Liverpool Street mainline station in Hope Square

next to the statue of the Kindertransport children at 11.00. Joint with the Independent Group.

Saturday, February 21              Hanger Lane to Kew Bridge. 10 miles. Lunch at The Fox, Hanwell.  Meet Hanger Lane (Central Line) at 10am.

Saturday February 28              Loopy Lakes from Rickmansworth. Figure of eight, 10½ miles exploring lakes, river and canal. Morning loop includes five lakes and two hills (6½ miles). Lunch at  The White Bear, lakes café or picnic. Afternoon loop leaving canal centre, Rickmansworth, at 2.00 to include Ebury Way, Croxley Moor and canal towpath (4 miles) returning to Rickmansworth. Depart Marylebone 9.42, Harrow-on-the-Hill 9.54, arrive Rickmansworth 10.04.
